You do not need to be of the Lutheran faith to attend our
programs; we welcome all. Over 70% of our current students are
not members of St. Michael Lutheran Church. Part of our mission
is to welcome all members of our broader community. St.
Michael Lutheran School and Christ for Kids Childcare Center are open to any family regardless of
church affiliation. We do not discriminate on the basis of
religion, race, color, or national or ethnic origin in the administration
of our admission or educational policies.

Required school tuition payments are based on the following
annual rates, with member rates listed first followed by
non-member rates: Morning or Afternoon 3’s ($828) and ($972);
4’s ($1,080) and ($1,260); and 5’s ($1,332) and ($1,620). 18
equal two-week payments are due every other Monday, with the
exception of two weeks during Christmas.
Tuition Payments
Tuition payments are
due every other Monday, with parents paying for the program
services two weeks in advance. A customized payment sheet is
developed for each family and provided at the beginning of the
year. Make checks payable to “St. Michael Lutheran School” and
place them in the payment drop box in the church office or
school office.
It is essential that parents pay their tuition in a timely
manner, so that we may meet our financial obligations for
payroll, supplies, food, and general operating costs. A late fee
of $30 will be assessed to all tuition exceeding 30 days in
delinquency. If special circumstances occur that require a delay
in payment, arrangements must be made with the Principal and
submitted to the Board. No outstanding balance can be carried
from one school year to another.
A free service called “Simply Giving” is offered by Thrivent
Financial for Lutherans, and is available to all parents whereby
they can arrange to have their tuition payments automatically
transferred from their bank to St. Michael on a monthly basis. There is no cost to the parent for
this, and all it takes is the completion of a simple form
(available in the church office). All parents are encouraged to
consider using this service.
Registration Fee:
Prior to May 1st, a $100 non-refundable
registration/materials fee per child is required at the time of
enrollment, with a maximum of $200 per family annual fee. If
paid after May 1st, the fee is $125 per student/$250 family
maximum. Of these amounts, $50 per child ($100 family
maximum) can be applied toward 07/08 tuition by completing
volunteer hours.
Students will be participating in a
number of fieldtrips, many of which will be free to the student.
However, there are a few places for which there is a charge, and
parents will be asked to cover those costs. Once all field trips
have been scheduled for the year, a list (including any costs)
will be shared with the parents.
Multi-child Discount
A 5% family discount is applied to each child's tuition when
two children are enrolled. A 10% family discount is applied to
each child's tuition when 3 or more children are enrolled.
Thanks to many fundraising efforts and the kindness of
various individuals, some scholarship funds are available for
eligible families. St. Michael
uses the services of an outside company (Private School Aide
Service) to evaluate scholarship applications (to
ensure consistency and privacy).
Every family that seeks any scholarship
assistance must complete the application form. Then based upon
what the private company determines such families are supposed
to be able to pay, as well as what the families themselves
indicate they are able to pay, appropriate assistance may be
provided (with all families paying at least 50% of their annual
tuition costs). Any family who fails to complete such a
scholarship assistance form is expected to pay their full
tuition.
In an effort to
be good stewards and to maximize our giving potential, our
members have come up with a variety of creative ways people can
help pay their tuition and contribute to St. Michael Lutheran School (SMLS) and Christ for
Kids (CFK) Childcare Center.
